Nsukka LGA Moves to Decongest Metropolise

The executive chairman of Nsukka LGA, Hon. Patrick Kenechukwu Omeje in his determination to give Nsukka metropolis a brand new face and serene environment in line with the plans and purpose of Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of Enugu state, has commenced the relocation of all motor parks to the Aku Road Modern Market, Nsukka.

This move is in a bid to decongest the ever busy Enugu Road by Ogige Market where virtually all the motor parks are concentrated.

GrassRoots.ng gathered that following series of fruitful deliberation, the several transport companies have relocated to the new site where various section of the park have been professionally allocated to them by the Town Engineer of the local government Engr. B. O.

Ochiaka, the zonal surveyor of Nsukka zone, Surv. Uche Udeinya, the market superintendent, Comrade Chidiebere Attah as well as other members of the committee set up by the local government chairman for the revival of the Aku road market.

This allocation of space was done so as to ensure orderliness within the park and provide adequate space for human and vehicle movement.

The following are the transport companies that have moved into the new site.
1. Peace Mass Transit (All buses loading to destination within the South-East)
2. Ifesinachi Transport Company ( All buses loading to destination with the South-East)
3. ETRACO
4. GLOBIS
5. OKEYSON
6. ROMCHI
7. Sunny Bright
8. Royal Mass Transit
9. Igbo-Etiti Mass Transit
10. Fed. Urban Mass Transit

And every other transporter operating local routes within the local government.

The leadership of NURTW ably led by Mr. Onyekachi Ugwu (Ebube), in support of the government move, thanked the chairman of the local government for taking the bull by the horn in ensuring that the relocation was effected as it will go a long way in checkmating the incessant traffic jam usually experienced along the road.

Also residents along Aku road has expressed their joy over revival of the Aku Road market, saying that the massive market structure has been serving as a hide out to miscreants within the vicinity.

They thanked the chairman for reviving the market in this capacity as it will make business in and around the area more active.

The Chairman has appealed to the good people of Nsukka LGA and the general public to kindly adjust to the new development and accept it in good faith as the government is working tirelessly to see that Nsukka becomes great again.
