30 Abia Shoemakers Return After Tutorials in China

All the 30 Shoemakers sent to China by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State to learn automated shoe production processes have returned to the state.

The Shoemakers, including two non-Abians from Imo and Ebonyi doing business at Aba, were welcomed by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu at Governor’s Lodge Aba.

The Governor welcomed the returnees and presented them to the clergy, led by the State President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Apostle Emma Agonmuo, to pray for them and give thanks to God for their successful trip.

Speaking during the brief reception, Governor Ikpeazu informed that all the machines used by the trainees in China have been procured by the government and expected in the state at the end of next month. He also promised that before the end of the year the automated factory will be commissioned at Aba.

“We thank God who led you to China and back. I am proud that none of you escaped and stayed back in China. I monitored your activities and have also seen the report from your host indicating that you were excellent ambassadors of our state and have also made it possible for us to send the remaining 70, after the first automated factory has opened for business at Aba in the coming months,” Ikpeazu said.

The Governor, who received samples of Shoes designed and produced by the Shoemakers in China assured that his administration “will continue to do whatever is necessary to support entrepreneurs in Abia State and create jobs”.
