The National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, declared yesterday in Duste, Jigawa State capital, that the process of ejecting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Aso Rock Villa and other states in the federation has begun in earnest.
Prince Secondus spoke as jubilant crowd overwhelmed PDP leaders that included National Working Committee (NWC), former and serving governors and other leaders at a rally to kick start the party’s mass mobilisation ahead of 2019.
The PDP boss said that his quit notice to the APC last December to begin packing their wares from the nation’s seat of power is no fluke and the people of Jigawa have made a very bold statement in this regard.
National Chairman’s spokesman Ike Abonyi said in a statement from Dutse, that from the Dutse International Airport to the city center venue of the rally, it took the National Chairman’s convoy hours as jubilant youths chant change the change.
Abonyi quoted Secondus as saying that “the people of Jigawa have made a bold statement that only a living and active party can make” in reference to the statement from the APC National Chairman Chief John Oyegun that PDP is dead and buried
“Let him come here or call his governor ruling this state to give him report of what a dead party did in his state today,” Secondus said sarcastically.
The National Chairman said Nigerians have more than enough reasons why they should throw away the APC in their political life because it has been three years of hell and inactivity in governance.
“All the indices in all sectors of our national life in the past three years shows very clearly that Nigeria situation is getting worse and the people cannot wait to see off the APC.
“From corruption, to security, to the economy, the APC have woefully failed the people of Nigeria and they cannot wait to vote them out.”
The governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo, former Governor of Jigawa State and a Presidential aspirant Sule Lamido were among key speakers who echoed the National Chairman’s call that the ruling party should start packing.
