Children’s Day: Clergyman urges parents to improve on their roles

The Pastor in-charge, Christian Pentecostal Mission International (CPM), Yaba branch, Lagos State, Reverend A.B.C Okoro has called on parents to  intensified efforts towards care and inculcating of disciplines in the lives of the children.

He made the remark during a special service to mark this year’s Children’s Day celebration, adding that authorities in the Country should not relent in the protection children.

“Celebrating the Children is in good fate, because any family or nation that recognises the Children is living by the Biblical injunction and also understands that these are the future of such family or people.

“That’s why I feel that as a nation we shouldn’t fail in our role to provide protection for our children, both spiritual and physical. Also, the Church should continue to pray for these children and teach them the right ways of live as they face a society where immorality and indiscipline has taken a new turn.

“The same time, it also gives me pleasure to see that we have children who are very much interested in the things of God; just as we have seen the displays by the Children department of CPM Yaba. To crown it all, parents should double efforts to teach the kids the tenets of faith as early as possible as stipulated in Proverbs 22:6. The church will on its part teach them to follow the way of the Lord. So, it is a joint effort,” Rev’ ABC Okoro added.

Children’s Day celebration brings lots of fun and frolic activities as was re-echoed in a welcome speech by Miss Chidinma Ezedialor, who said, “Children are leaders of tomorrow so they need to get respect, special care and protection from their parents, teachers and other members of the family”.

She regretted that children receive abuses in many ways in the society by their family members, relatives, neighbours or other strangers. “Children’s Day celebration reminds us about the importance of children in the family, society and country.

Meanwhile, Rev’ Okoro reading from Ephesians 6:1 and Colossians 3:20 advised the children to

Children become the happiness of the society and home as well as the future of the society when they are led aright. You cannot ignore their involvements and contributions in the lives of parents, teachers and other related people all through the life.

“Children are liked by everyone and without them life becomes very boring and upset. The same time, they should learn to obey parents and elders so that they will excel in life. Some of you here in Lagos have forgotten your parents in the village; this is not right and calls for change in attitude”.

Highpoints of the day include ministrations in songs, drama, recitations, plays, sermon and exchange of gifts among the children of CPM Yaba.
