The National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Oye has called on old and new party members gearing up for the 2019 general elections to brace up for a contest, saying there will not be any automatic ticket.
Reacting to a question that some “powerful’ members of his party may be given tickets without much efforts, Oye said that though he does not yet know if the wife of the late Biafran warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu will be joining the race, that neither here nor senator Victor Umeh, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah would be treated as a sacred cow.
According to him, the party has been able to thrive because of the transparency it exhibits internally, adding that APGA was not prepared to puncture the trust for the sake of a few individuals.
While dismissing the insinuation as wrong, Oye said, “I don’t know if the wife of the warlord is running for Senate as you said, if she is interested, it is her tight, but she must participate in the primary election.
“As for the insinuation that I favour Ukachukwu for the Senate ticket of Anambra South and the governor favours Bianca while the former national chairman favours Ifeanyi Ubah, I can tell you that there is nothing like that.
“How can you even think of a thing like that? That is not true. Ukachukwu does not even know my house, he has never sent anyone to meet me about that. I have no favoured person among the three, they are all my friends.
He, however, debunked allegations that there is battle of supremacy in the party between him and the former national chairman, Victor Umeh following rumour of his plans to contest the senatorial seat of Anambra central which Umeh is currently occupying.
The APGA chairman dismissed it as another speculation that is far from true saying that he has no ambition beyond his present position.
He added; “I am being sincere with you. My primary interest is to move the party forward and that is what I am doing.
On the issue of adopting the incumbent president as the party’s presidential candidate, Oye said there was no plan in the pipeline to adopt President Buhari saying that it was not in his place to decide on that.
