UniCal theatre arts alumni association conference 2018 begins August 2

The University of Calabar Theatre Arts Alumni Association (UCTAA) has announced plans for its 2018 conference under the theme: “Raising a unique blend of leaders who will positively impact and contribute to Humanity”.

Speaking ahead of the three-day conference and award night slated for August 2nd to 5th, 2018, UCTAA National President, Mrs. Rita Amuchienwa, disclosed that Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade shall be presented with ‘Digital Governor of the Year Award’ for his numerous projects, leveraging ICT to better the worth of Cross Riverians.

She described the Conference as long overdue, especially in reuniting the alumni to give back to the University and Department that made them what they are today.

“This conference follows our desire towards making ‘tiny steps with big strides’. The major reason we are gathering is to reunite and to galvanize and raise a unique blend of leaders who will positively impact and contribute to humanity,” Mrs. Amuchienwa said.

The conference which holds at Axari Hotel, Murtala Mohammad Highway, Calabar will feature symposiums, bon-fire party, play production, morning walk and award presentation to eminent Nigerians: (Leadership award)- Prof. Zana Akpagu; (Outstanding Service Award)- Prof. Kalu Uka; Excellence award in corporate philanthropy to Alhaji Adedayo Thomas; “Posthumous in memory of Dexter Lindersay whose service to the Department of Theatre Arts is forever cherished as a founding father, amongst other awards lined up for the day”.

The National President also said the event will accord members the opportunity to give back to their Alma Mater – The Theatre, Film and Carnival Studies department of the University of Calabar.
