Governments are trying their best but we need private sector initiatives like this to augment what governments can provide.

“With this exercise, we have saved many of the beneficiaries from untimely death, avoidable ailments, sicknesses that could migrate to fatalities. We carried out detail vital-signs checks, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, dental check-up, malaria parasite test, blood & glucose assessment for diabetics; hepatitis B & C test, elderly care advisory and provided health talk and counselling. We thank the IJ Boys for providing this platform to make life better for our people, their effort is worth emulating”, said Dr Odunsi.

In his own remarks, the President of the association Mr Bayo Okenla thanked all that contributed to the success of the program especially Dr Odunsi and his team of medical experts. He explained that the Medical Outreach has become institutionalised as one of IJ Boys annual projects.

The association he said, was founded in 2016 as non-profit organisation by friends who grew up and attended different secondary schools in Ijebu land in the 80s and are connected by same vision and love for their fatherland.

“IJ Boys was established as a platform to congregate, associate, promote brotherhood with the objective of seeking human and physical development of Ijebu land through educational, economic and social initiatives; as well as thought leadership. It seeks economic empowerment and welfare of its members.

“We also aim to develop and implement initiatives that will increase economic opportunities and strengthen communalism within Ijebu land towards ensuring a robust framework for her advancement. Our membership are not limited by age, wealth nor are we political. We are also not one of the Regberegbes (age grade social associations). We are based home and in the Diaspora”. Okenla explained.
