Ebonyi: IPAC raises alarm over plans to truncate peace in the State ahead 2019 elections

Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) Ebonyi State Chapter has described as the recent transfer of the State Commissioner of Police as unwarranted.

This was contained in a communique released by the Body and signed my representatives from different political parties in the State.

According to the IPAC, Ebonyi State has enjoyed relative peace with regards to all Political activities involving several parties without any molestation whatsoever from any quarter.

The communique reads: “Sequel to an emergency meeting of Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) Ebonyi State Chapter held recently in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State with regards to the recent Political happenings and developments especially the unwarranted transfer of the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Police Command and other Senior staff of Independent National Electoral Commission in Ebonyi State, we the above mentioned body of all Political parties after exhaustive deliberation wish to state as follows:

1• That Ebonyi State has enjoyed relative peace with regards to all Political activities involving several parties without any molestation whatsoever from any quarter.

2• That before the transfer of the said Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State especially in connection to the boasting of some Political gladiators that the said transfer must be accomplished before the next General election as to engender manipulation, rigging and electoral malpractices in order to achieve their selfish aim/gain.

3• That the said boasting was circulated online and widely read by all in Social Media Platforms.

4• That the body of IPAC views the recent transfer of the State Commissioner of Police as unwarranted and further regiments the earlier boast of the said Political gladiators who are all out to truncate and undermine the relative peace enjoyed by all parties in the State.

5• That the body of IPAC also frowns at the timing of the recent transfer of senior staff of INEC and other sister agencies in Ebonyi State and points to a calculated plan by these Political gladiators to rig and undermine the electoral process in Ebonyi State especially considering their Political antecedent.

6• That the Federal Minister and Adams Oshiomhole have been having series of meetings on how to undermine electoral votes process in Ebonyi State and ensure rigging, vote buying and all other electoral malpractices.

7• That the Presidency should take note of the present happenings and unfortunate incident in Ebonyi State.

8• That we the members of IPAC Ebonyi State Chapter has vowed to stand our ground and ensure that the right thing is done and clearly wishes to state unequivocally that a level playing ground must be accorded to all the Political parties in Ebonyi State as we journey to the next General election in the spirit of fair-play cum transparency and there must be no rigging, electoral malpractices and or manipulation of any kind whatsoever”.
