The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has alleged that Muslims resident in Ebonyi State were neglected by the current Peoples Democratic Party-led government in the state.
This is even as it has vowed not to support individuals who do not have their interest at heart during the forthcoming general elections in the state in 2019.
The Vice-President General, South-East zone of the Islamic body, Dr Haroun Ajah, made the comments in Abakaliki on Thursday during the distribution of items by Zakat & Sadaqat Foundation (Lagos) to the beneficiaries of its 2018 empowerment scheme in the state.
Ajah said, “In the Ebonyi State empowerment scheme, we are not included; but we only hear it in the radio and read it on the pages of newspaper.
“I urge you as Muslims not to support any candidate or party that does not have our interest at heart, because we equally form a critical stakeholder in this state. So as the general election draws nearer, never be deceived by their empty promises again. Ensure you don’t vote for those who, only recognise our worth during the elections, but quickly forget us after elections,” he cautioned.
