Bauchi State Govt to set up ICT incubation labs at the prisons, train inmates

Handshake pf partnership to make life meaningful for prison inmates in Bauchi State

Bauchi State Government is set to enhance the skills of prison inmates through establishment of Information and Commination Technology (ICT) Incubation Labs at the prisons across the state.

This was as a result of the efforts put in place by Bauchi State Government to deploy the ICT services to train the inmates on some ICT selected courses, issue them certificates after the training in order to become self reliant after serving their term of sentences.

The Special Assistant on Information and Communication Technology, Comrade Doji confirmed this development thus, ‘’We have thousands of men and women in the prisons as a result of joblessness and you would find out that more than 85% are the youths of ages between 18-35years. We feel that it is necessary to deploy the ICT services to train these inmates so that when they leave the prison they will keep themselves busy’’.

“It is also part of the state government’s action plans on ICT to leverage the state from traditional system of communications and introduce modern technology to combat digital illiteracy and reduce unemployment by establishing the ICT Incubations Lab at the five major Prisons that we have across the state.

“As you can see, the Nigeria Prison Service Controller, Bauchi State Alhaji Suleiman D. Suleiman is happy with this idea and he guaranteed us his maximum cooperation to translate this noble idea into the concrete reality”.

He added that the State Governor, His Excellency Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, is committed tirelessly to make Bauchi State a safe haven for technology to thrive and to recognize ICT talents from the youths in order to project them to domestic and International ICT industries.
