REACTION: Guy receives gift worth N1.2million a year she called him idiot

By: Ebube Okeke

There is this WhatsApp platform where someone shared this this true life story and I believe it is worth sharing for the larger society to learn from it.

What I love about this story is the humor and lesson we can derive from it. Most of us have faced situations like this and we usually do not know what to do. Here’s a story that would teach you, crack you up and leave you thinking.

His story:

She asked a question in a general group on WhatsApp. I responded to the question professionally.  To my surprise, She tagged my response and typed: *”you’re an idiot”

I was shocked then I replied: *”Thanks so much, now that you point my attention to this idiotic part of me, I’ll surely work on it, God bless you my dear…”

My funny reply which was the only thing I could think of shook the whole place ,Over 118 people commented and were so surprised by my response. Of course she was terribly bashed to the extent that she left the group. An hour later she called me to apologise for her stupidity bla bla bla.

How crazy?. We became friends.

I handled her premarital counselling sessions, 2days ago, on my birthday, she and her husband gave me a gift worth over 1.2million naira.

This was a year after she called me an idiot.

There are different ways to be taught and different ways to learn, Aside the formal and informal education, Life teaches us lessons in different ways; either from our experiences or that of others. Look at the lessons from this story

1. Your reaction to negative feedbacks or situations shows how mature you are: Children always throw tantrums. Adults are usually calm. How you handle a negative remark tells so much about you

2. You have the power of choice whenever anybody does or says anything offensive to you: You can choose to forgive and ignore or worsen the situation

3. If someone calls you anything negative and you lose yourself and begin to fight or shout or do anything terrible, you only prove them right.

4. It is better to keep quiet and people think you’re a fool than for you to open your mouth and they confirm you’re truly a fool.

5. You cannot because the baby pooed in his bath throw the baby away with the bath water.

6. You have the power to win people through your maturity and composure and not through overly being more sanctimonious than the person.

7. Life is all about people. If I had responded to her negatively, I would have lost a friend forever.

8. There are people who are sent to you by God to help your journey in life to be worthwhile, your meeting point might be at a fighting point. Be wise, even when you’re angry.

9. She was humble enough to call and apologised.

Maybe there is someone you need to reconcile with now and make peace. Call the person right away please.  Who don’t know who your help would come from, endeavor to be polite
