The annual Ikeoha Adult Literacy Day and Scholarship/Bursary Award Ceremony was fun.

The Foundation is a brainchild of the Deputy President of the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

The adult learners thrilled the audience with match past, cultural displays, recitations, sack race, etc. The scholarship and  bursary beneficiaries and NYSC members weren’t left out too.

302 adult learners, who passed out from the Ikeoha Foundation Adult Literacy Centres spread across Enugu West Senatorial District, received their First School Leaving Certificates.

Over 12,155 had earlier benefited over this free education over the years.

380 students received a bursary of N50,000 each, while 19 students across the State received N400,000 in scholarship each.

Given the number of applicants and support from friends at the event, the BOT increased the number of bursary beneficiaries from 300 to 380, while the amount was increased from N40,000 to N50,000.

“Thanks to His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, all our friends, political associates, traditional rulers, the clergy, youth, etc. for their show their support and goodwill”, the Senator wrote on his Facebook page. “We celebrate our instructors and volunteers for the great job they’re doing.”
