BREAKING: Air Peace aircraft skids off the runway in Port Harcout

An aircraft belonging to Air Peace skidded off the runway in Port Harcourt, Rivers State due to inclement weather situation.

The aircraft left Abuja for Port Harcourt on Saturday but there was no casualty during the incident.

According to a Facebook post by Patrick Okigbo Principal Partner at Nextier, ”Apparently Air Peace skidded off the runway in PHC. What an eventful day!

I left Enugu this morning on Air Peace for Abuja. The plane got to Abuja airspace but couldn’t land due to bad weather so it returned to Enugu.

After about 30 minutes of sitting on the tarmac, the plane took off again and we returned to Abuja. The pilot aborted his first attempt to land almost at the point of touch down because the cloud cover was too low. The second approach was a bit turbulent but we landed.

Kudos to the pilot for making two good calls: one, to return to Enugu and two, to abort the first approach.

I hope the folks in PHC are all okay. The passenger who shared the photo said all are okay even if some are shaken. Nothing that one or two shots of “Sapele Wota” cannot take care of.

Flying in Nigeria has always been on a prayer. Or may be two.”
