Nigerian, Dr. Oyedokun appointed Chair GFVC Federation of Africa

A Nigerian, Dr. Oyedokun Ayodeji Oyewole, has been appointed as Chairperson for Global Fashion Value Chain (GFVC) Federation of Africa and will preside over all African countries working groups.

Confirming the position in appointment letter signed by the Chairman of GFVC Federation of Africa, Leslie Becker, he will supervise the Federation that berthed in 2016 and was designed for the entire community of Africa’s benefit to create the much-needed jobs and improve the 1% global manufacturing of Africa’s 1.3 Billion population.

Dr. Oyedokun who is the incumbent President and Chairman, Governing Council, Institute of Information Management (IIM Africa), will bring his experience to harness opportunity to map, integrate and disrupttheentirefragmentedindustryecosystemonthebasisofthe4thindustrialrevolutionprinciples, and through Partnerships, build the first smart institution of excellence in partnership with International and Continental Senior industry experts; Traditional Leadership, Businesses; Organized labour; Academic Institutions; African Governments and leading industry SMEs.

“The untapped potential presented by the African Fashion Value Chain, disruptive Global era, and AUs Continental Free-Trade Market has necessitated the collective multi-stakeholder partnership to action a collective high impact leadership role in re-industrializing the entire chain, identify and develop new innovative policies, and present Africa with a single common visionary roadmap that will unlock the entire African fashion value chain’s economic potential, achieve the 2030 SDGs, and GFVC FEDERATION OF AFRICA’S VISION”, Becker writes.

GFVC’s vision is to develop a Robust, Disruptive African Fashion Value Chain Economy that solidifies Africa’s position in global manufacturing as innovative and competitive and a globally trusted Institution of excellence in Smart Manufacturing, Trade and Investment – that is also a resource to all of its Pan-African members and beneficiaries.

Dr. Oyedokun is the Founder / President / Chairman Governing Council, Institute of Information Management (IIM) – Africa, responsible for the day – to – day running of IIM (Nigeria, USA, UK, South Africa, Ghana), Record and Information Management Awareness (RIMA) Foundation (Nigeria & South Africa), Wolexdok Micro-processor Ltd and Founder of the International University of Information Management (IUIM), Colorado USA.

A computer professional, his professional career in the late 90s has seen him through Swenig System Nigeria, a Swedish company that specializes in information security, sales, and support of Dr. Solomon Anti-Virus toolkit, where he worked as the Head of the Computer department with technical support functions.

A member of Network and system professionals Association, USA, International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM). He worked for a major Oil and Gas Company in Nigeria (Chevron Nigeria Limited), between 1998 and 2012.

Dr. Oyedokun is a respected international information management practitioner, founder of the Records and Information Management Awareness Foundation (RIMA Foundation), publisher of Information Management World Magazine (IM World Magazine), RIM Africa Journal and Executive Producer of Information Management World on Television (IM World TV). He has received different local and international awards for his contributions to the development of the Information Management industry in Nigeria and Africa. In 2004, he received the “Great Minds of the 21st Century Award” An award presented to him by the American biographical institute. 

Dr. Oyedokun was among a thirteen-man committee inaugurated in March 2010 by the Lagos State Government for the formulation of Policy on Records and Archives Management in Lagos State. He was in 2014 named Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation and also in 2015 inducted as the first-ever African Fellow of the Information and Records Management Society (IRMS) United Kingdom (UK), and still the only African till date. His specialties include ECM, BPM, DM, EDMS Implementation/Training, and Consultancy Services.

Speaking on the appointment, he said, “I feel thrilled to have been identified by Global Fashion Value Chain (GFVC) Federation of Africa and to be part of this great initiative aimed at benefiting the entire African community, especially in the area of Job creation for the African youths.

“This is instructive, owing to the fact that GFVC recognizes Africa as the future economic growth engine of the world and we shall work for the common good of the Continent,” he added.
