Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney believes Paul Pogba will prove his quality if he ends up staying at the club beyond this summer’s transfer window.
United are intent on keeping the World Cup-winning midfielder in the face of interest from Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane.
And Rooney, who won two trophies with United alongside Pogba during the 2016-17 season, believes the 26-year-old will remain an asset to United next term providing he doesn’t move to Madrid.
“It’s obviously down to the club, to the board, to the manager, but I think also to the player,” Rooney told ESPN. “If the player wants to stay, he’ll stay and prove what a good player he is.
“Behind the scenes, I’m sure they’re working on whether to keep him or whether to let him go.”
