The founder of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo, has countered the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, over demolition of a mosque in the state.
Mr Dokubo said the governor actually demolished the mosque.
“Wike claiming that there was no mosque, is a lie. He is lying and you know it, Wike you are lying. If there was no mosque why did you go there? We legally acquired the land for the mosque from Dr Sotonye Amadi.
“The Christian group acquired their own part of the land and built their own churches, but he did not demolish their churches.
“Why did you and your brother, Rotimi Amaechi, singled out our mosque to demolish and to prevent us from building. The person who acquired the land for the mosque, is an Okrika Ijaw man and this land was acquired legally from Chief Dr Edward Sotonye Amadi.
“Why is this mosque a problem to you? The first signatory to this agreement for the transfer of title like I said, was an Okrika Muslim, Alhaji Ali Ibiorika. I was a member of the congregation,” Mr Dokubo added.
Mr Dokubo also countered the governor that Rivers is not a Christian state, saying Muslims are law-abiding citizens in the state.
“Which Rivers Muslim has killed anybody or burnt any church? Which Rivers Christian has been assaulted badly. Name them and bring them so that we can shame them. Islam is bigger than you and there is nothing you can do about it,” he added.
