Roar Nigeria, Lion Science Park in France for world conference

A delegation from UNN Innovation ecosystem (Roar Nigeria and Lion Science Park) will be present at the 36th World Conference of International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation slated to hold in Nantes, France from 24th to 27th September, 2019.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Professor Charles A. Igwe had sent these officials in an effort to ensure the university maintains her enviable position as the Most Innovative Federal University in Nigeria.

The delegation led by the 14th Vice Chancellor, University of Nsukka, Professor B.C Ozumba, who is the Chairman, Board of Lion Science Park and Champion of Innovation, includes Professor Joy Ezeilo, Legal Adviser, Board of Lion Science Park; Professor Kenneth Ofokansi, Member, Board of Lion Science Park; Dr Jude Chukwu, Director of Innovation and Member, Board of Lion Science Park and Ms Chinwe Okoli, Manager, Roar Nigeria and Lion Science Park.

Ms Chinwe Okoli, the Manager of Lion Science Park and Roar Nigeria Hub, University of Nigeria, Nsukka is among the experts in the world innovation ecosystem drawn from over 30 countries to address this global conference.

Ms Okoli will speak on the topic: Opportunities, Challenges and Lessons Learned from setting up and running the first University-Embedded incubator and Science Park in the West African Sub Region. 

She is expected to share opportunities, insights and unique lessons learned by the entire innovation team of the University of Nigeria from inception of the first university embedded incubator and science park in Nigeria-Roar Nigeria and Lion Science Park respectively. 

Roar Nigeria Hub was co-founded by the University of Nigeria and two alumni of the university, Engrs Charles Emembolu and Okechi Igwebuike. This hub located in the heart of the university has provided a huge platform for entrepreneurship to trend and thrive among young students in the University of Nigeria. 

Lion Science Park was inducted as a member of the global body, IASP at her 35th World conference held at Isfahan, Iran in September 2018.

The International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), with the headquarter in Malaga Spain, is a world umbrella of science parks and areas of innovation. 

It holds an annual world conference in various countries discussing trends, case studies in science, technology and innovation (STI), with the aim of linking their members to best practices and developments in STI from around the world.

The theme of the 36th world conference is The 4thIndustrial Revolution: Areas of Innovation and Science Parks as Key Boosters for a successful Transition.

The 36th World Conference is under the high patronage of the President of France, President Emmanuel Macron. Top sponsors of this year’s conference includes Airbus, Tuspark, Engie and Naval Group.

Other activities of the conference includes facilitating technology transfers, matchmaking, B2B meetings and networking sessions all with the goal of linking the best.
