Goodluck Jonathan appointed UN envoy on crisis

The United Nations (UN) has appointed Nigeria’s ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonatha as its Special Envoy on Crisis Management. UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterre has announced early Monday.

The ex-leader’s appointment is coming at a time the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chieftain is facing huge criticism back home by the ruling party under President Muhammadu Buhari over allegations of money laundering and corruptions.

However, the UN believed the ex-leader’s handling of the 2015 general elections in which he contested but lost to the incumbent, Buhari.

Dr Jonathan who maintained that his personal ambition was not worth the life of any citizen, thus handed over power as pledged to avoid crisis that might erupt after the presidential poll.

That single act has endears him to the players at the global league.

By his latest UN appointment, Jonathan will be global trotting across troubled nations to represent the world body. He is expecting to broker peace and make advancement of resolutions to the body on crisis issues.
