The ongoing wide spread of coronavirus has raised concerns amongst global leaders. Businesses have been affected negatively, some investors are loosing money due to some markets been shut down.
Most of the countries have started taking preventive measures to combat the surge. There have been rigorous checks in various airports just to ensure that carriers do not infect others.
A country like Saudi Arabia had temporarily halted the entry of pilgrims entering the country to visit holy sites, in an attempt to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Millions of Muslims make the journey each year, especially during the month of Ramadan, which starts in April.
However, the cure to this virus remains questionable until an institute in Nigeria claimed that it has a cure for the virus.
To put simply, Bio-Resources Institute of Nigeria said it has come up with a drug for the possible treatment of Coronavirus. Even though, there is no reports of as at yet, if this institute has successfully treated any patient with the coronavirus.
This claim was revealed by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Science and Technology, Mohammed Abdullahi, who said that the discovery had been sent to the Special Committee on the Nigerian Academy of Sciences.
He said, “As part of the ongoing conversation on Coronavirus (COVID-19), the FMSTNG hosted Prof Maurice Iwu, who intimated us of his drug discovery project with a potential as a treatment agent for COVID-19.
“FMSTNG referred the discovery to its special committee set up to asses such claims.
“President of Nigerian Academy of Sciences will chair the special committee to verify these claims.”
