The powerful and earthquake-like explosion that occurred in the early hours of Sunday has become questionable.
The explosion which occurred at Abule-Ado, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area was catastrophic and many lives and properties were lost.
The media reported that it was a pipeline explosion – in other words, the buildings within the area where pipelines were buried got exploded.
However, some Nigerians are beginning to question if the incident was a result of a pipeline explosion.
Bomb Explosion
“A dynamite explosion and not Gas Explosion,” Domnic Abel said in response to questions.
“I live in Surulere, while on my way to church, and I heard the s explosion. Base on my profession as a Chemical Engineer and Gas Engineer. I want to reinstate that….this is not a gas explosion.”
He claimed that the explosion is simply an attack targeted at children within that school arena. They miscalculated their mission that it’s happening on Sunday morning where fewer people are located there, said Abel.
Dike Phillip said are you sure that Nigeria has not tested their newly invented missile in the country and we are here calling it to pipeline explosion?
Philip said Nigeria is so underdeveloped, a country that can’t produce missile, is it possible for them to detect and detonate an incoming missile. This is more than just a pipeline explosion, he said.
Thorough Investigation
Abel charged the Lagos State Government to look deep inter this matter by using a qualified chemist and nucleic expertise ascertain the real cause of this explosion or less something more worsening might reoccurring.
Also, Akinjide Cole added that the magnitude of the explosion is beyond what a pipeline could create, therefore charging government officials look beyond the pipeline explosion while the investigation is carried out.
According to Chinonso Onyebuchi, oil and gas pipelines have been exploding in Lagos in different areas, so how many times have such explosions shook the foundation of your buildings, he questioned.
“I know Abule Ado is a far distance from Ikorodu where I reside, but the explosion shook buildings in my area, the government must look beyond pipeline explosion.
Government Role
According to Chukwuemeka, this is the time for the government should pay attention to the importance of improvement in management for occupational environmental, health and safety.
He said the government must set a standard, implement and enforce it accordingly to mitigate these occupational incidents.
