[Opinion] 5 Indisputable Lessons from Buhari Led Administration

I also do freelance writing. Alright? So I feel I should do this pro bono for Nigerians to learn from the present APC led Federal Government. Don’t see failures as final in your life whereas most failures are only there to teach you great lessons so that so you can learn and become greater in your business tomorrow.

Below are 5 indisputable lessons every Nigerian should learn from the Buhari’s led administration since 2015.

  1. Take Responsibility: For the first 3 years into this administration, the only thing we heard from Mr. President was apportioning blames to PDP who happens to be his predecessor. While the presidency blamed and complained, time was going. At the end of the years, the only project the administration could commission was the already 90% completed railway line initiated by President Jonathan. So are you running a business? A leader in your office or organization? Stop blaming people for your failures and find ways to fix the problems as your responsibility.
  2. Don’t Complain: Complaining has never solved a problem. Remember, the presidency once told us they met an empty treasury. Next he was complaining that the youths are lazy. This went on and on. Today there is corona virus and everything has finally come to a stand-still. When you keep complaining without finding solutions, more problems will pop up so that you can find more things to complain about. Solve the problem in bits and keep moving, forget about the bottlenecks. Time will fix that.
  3. Avoid Lies: Our people use to say “oyop ototngo ke etuk etuk ado eduek” meaning the seedless palm fruit will start from when it is small to bear such fruits. To get power from the PDP, the APC in her desperation relied on lying against the incumbent. Today the lies continues in governance when we are supposed to face the real business. 679million naira is used to feed school children at home. 20,000 naira has been paid to Nigeria citizens with below 5,000 naira in their account. Yet in all these no Nigerian has seen these things. We only see them on the TV and social media, the same medium the APC used in winning election in 2015. Today most Nigerians feel more disappointed than if the government had told them plainly “we cannot do this or that”. Avoid this in your life.
  4. Your Team: Why sacrifice competent for tribalism and nepotism? The mistake of this administration should help you look beyond tribalism when forming a team to achieve any purpose in life. N-Power was under the office of the Vice President and there was always prompt payment according to the beneficiaries. It was later moved to the ministry of humanitarian affairs headed by a northern lady and the story since then has been from disastrous to catastrophic. Payment are owed for 2 months while the minister lack proper explanation for her failures. I would have talked about constantly defeating book haram and banditry in the media, but for time I won’t go into that. Lesson: Always use competent hands devoid of any sentiments.
  5. Take Charge: You are the leader and so why are you junketing round the globe? What are you really looking for outside that you can’t make it happen within your organization? Treating malaria in London and treating headache in India. Alas Abba Kyari his CSO became the Presidency and the decision maker while the President’s signature was only needed for the intended actions. Did you know Obasanjo, Yar’dua, Jonathan all had CSOs? Why didn’t you hear their names? That was because the president was in charge and not the CSO. So learn a lesson from this, never allow your subordinates to make excessive decisions for you while you catch fun outside your business. Ask questions, get details, be on ground to know exactly what is happening and never be taken for a ride. You are the leader so let no one outshine the master within the organisation.

There may be more lessons from this administration but those are the first 5 I thought I should share with you. If you have any other lesson you have learnt from this administration feel free to share in the comment section. Someone can learn from you.
