The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Anambra State Command has intercepted a truck loaded with over one thousand nine hundred and ten kilograms of banned and hard drugs in the State.
The State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Mohammed Idris made the revelations in a press briefing at the state command headquarters of the agency in Awka.
Fourteen suspects reportedly connected with trafficking drugs and other drug crimes in the State were arrested.
The drugs were hidden in loads of gallons of oil, bathroom slippers, vehicle and motor cycle spare parts and many other good.
Reports from Anambra confirmed that the drug seized are one thousand, six hundred and thirty five kilogrammes of cannabis sativa popularly known as indian hemp, and four hundred and twenty two thousand tablets of two hundred and twenty five milligrammes of tramadol weighing two hundred and thirty five kilogrammes.
Others include ten thousand tablets of diazapharm which weighs four point six kilogrammes, one hundred thousand thousand tablets of exol five and zero point one-zero kilogrammes of cocaine.
According to the State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Mohammed Idris, investigations have already commenced while some arrests of suspects involved in the crime have been made.
The NDLEA boss pleaded with Ndi Anambra especially stakeholders at communitues to collaborate with the agency to rid the state of hard drugs and drug trafffickers.
While describing the arrests as a major step in the war to end drug trafficking in the State, the NDLEA Commander, Mr Idris commended Governor Willie Obiano for the moral and logistics support provided the agency in fulfilling her duties.
