Digital Nigeria: Dr Pantami Leads Nigerian Delegation at GITEX

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has led Nigerian delegation at the ongoing Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) at the United Arab Emirates.

The Nigerian delegation comprises brilliant and promising startups that will compete at the GITEX Future Stars, top Nigerian government officials and policymakers, members of computer professional bodies in Nigeria, tech entrepreneurs, among others. GITEX, the only Live in Person tech gathering for the year 2020 is holding in Dubai

The Nigerian delegation under the leadership of Dr Pantami is with a clear objective and mission at GITEX which include (s) to network, learn, unlearn and relearn, showcase Nigerian tech solutions to the world, foster the growth of Nigeria’s ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship ecosystem, attract Foreign Direct Investment, enhance technology transfer, in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy for a Digital Nigeria that comprises of 8 pillars.

Developmental Regulation; Digital Literacy and Skills; Solid Infrastructure; Service Infrastructure; Digital Services Development and Promotion; Soft Infrastructure; Digital Society and Emerging Technologies; and Indigenous Content Development and Adoption.

In his remarks, the Nigerian leader, Dr Pantami reiterated the importance of networking and technology transfer and further reminded the Nigerian delegates of the importance of cross-fertilization of innovation and ideas.

Dr Pantami also called on the Nigerian delegates to maximize the opportunities the 5-day tech gathering offers, stating that Nigeria is coming up with a policy on digital innovation and entrepreneurship which are the prerequisites to building a digital economy for a digital Nigeria.

Pantami furthermore hailed the decision of Dubai World Trade Center to incorporated Nigeria as an official partner of GITEX.
