The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma said the excesses of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been defeated in the State following the arrest of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Grassroots reported how Kanu was intercepted in Kenya, and sent back to Nigeria and now under the custody of Department for State Security.
Reacting to he development, the Imo State Governor said: “I hosted a delegation of the National Onion Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NOPPMAN) in my office led by their National President, Alhaji Aliyu Maitasimu Isah.
“I sympathize with them on account of the unfortunate loss of lives and businesses during the recent security breaches championed by the Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which their leader has been arrested and about to face trial.
“I assured them that Imo State is now safe for all Hausa Fulani businesses to thrive irrespective of tribe as nobody can force them out of the State again.
“In line with the group’s appeal fo financial compensation for goods which were destroyed by IPOB members, i pledged to set up a committee to workout modalities and cushion the losses of members whose goods were affected.
“Furthermore, i encouraged them never to be intimidated by any terrorist proscribed group called IPOB as we are committed in protecting them any time, any day.
“We also want to use this opportunity to inform you the proscribed IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu is now the authority of DSS and will face charges according to the provisions of the law.”
