Ohaneze Explains Why FG Must Bring Kanu For Trial On Thursday

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has asked the Federal Government to unfailingly ensure that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), appear in court on Thursday.

According to an apex Igbo socio-cultural group in Nigeria, Kanu’s appearance is necessary, to confirm that the pro-Biafra group leader is sound healthwise.

Recall that the Department of State Services (DSS) in July failed to produce Kanu in the Federal High Court in Abuja for continuation of his trial.

When his case was called up, Government lawyer, M. B. Abubakar, blamed Kanu’s absence in court on what he termed as “logistical problems”.

In a statement on Monday by the spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the group stated that it wants a fair trial for Kanu.

While calling on President Buhari to “ensure that our son, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is produced in court on Thursday, October 21, 2021”, Ohanaeze said.

“This is necessary to prove to the global community that Nnamdi Kanu is not only hale and hearty but that shady judicial process is not contemplated while on trial”.
