Dismissed Police Officer Arraigned Over N385,000 Fraud

A dismissed corporal, Ilesami Abiodun Alexander, has been arraigned and charged to Ogba magistrates’ court for attempting to swindle one Samuel Bother of N385,000.

He collected the money under the pretext of assisting the victim to get enlisted into the supernumerary police otherwise known as part-time police office or spy police).

The police said the dismissed officer was apprehended at the Police College, Ikeja, after he obtained the N385,000 from the victim under the pretext of training him to become a spy police officer.

The police prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, further told the court, “My lord, during interrogation, the police discovered that the accused was dismissed in 2010 and that he arrogated to himself the rank of ASP. The accused did not stop at that, he used his fake rank to receive prospective candidates interested in joining spy police; that he would assist them for a fee.”

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty, and the Magistrate, Mrs S.K. Matepo, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to December 10, 2021.
