The Nigerian vetteran actress, Ada Ameh recently disclosed her battle with depression. She talked about loosing 3 of her brothers, 3 of her sisters which one was a coach in the Nigerian under 19 female football category, She lost her dad and in 2020 her daughter who is her only child.
Having gone through the pains of burying 8 people in her life, she’s been left with depression and has been battling with her mental health for long now. The actress also revealed that she’s been seeing a doctor based on her said mental health. When asked about the whole situation, she had this to say.
” I had max depression. I’ve been depressed for some years and it became very worse when I lost my daughter in 2020. Sometimes I wake up and you know, we (me and my daughter) practically grew up together, I was 14 when I had her. So she was more like my younger sister. She was my friend, she was my best friend. I just saw my world crumble before me. I’d lost 3 of my sisters before that time and each of them had 3 children. I’d lost like 3 of my brothers, and my father. So after burying all these people then my daughter. Hmm. After my younger sister died in 2018, I thought I was going to be the next. But when my daughter died, my world crumbled before me. Sometimes I see myself, I could cry for days. I’ve been in and out of hospitals.”
She was then asked what she would do to help others who are facing thesame challenge as she is. She advised that the first step to take is to reach out to a doctor as everybody’s mental health is very important. She also talked about how she receives dm’s everyday from people soliciting for advice as their situation is pushing them to almost commit suicide. She said watching her loved ones die all these years had made her die over and over again. But she’s up and still fighting. So everyone should know the battles she’s fighting on the inside. Indeed it has been a tough one on her and even a few close friends has had to come baby sit her Per-say.
