The Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, on Monday, commenced the distribution of food packs across various state Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
This was revealed in a statement and photos posted on the official X handle of the Lagos State Government on Monday.
According to the statement, the initiative was to support Muslims during Ramadan.
The statement read, “Ramadan season: In a significant initiative aimed at supporting the Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan, the Lagos State Government, via its Ministry of Home Affairs, has commenced the widespread distribution of food packs across various State Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
“The gesture is designed to ensure that Muslim employees within the state’s public service have access to necessary sustenance as they observe this important period of fasting and reflection.
“By providing these food packs, the Lagos State Government reaffirms its commitment to inclusivity and support for the religious practices of its diverse population, fostering a spirit of mutual respect among its workforce.”
PUNCH Online reported on Sunday that Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Sokoto, approved the payment of half salary as Ramadan gift to all civil servants from primary school teachers to local government staff as well as pensioners in the state.
According to the governor, this formed part of his efforts to ensure that Muslims in the state starts this year’s Ramadan fast comfortably.
