PDP to APC: We’ve Perfected Plans to Unseat You in 2019

Published

on

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has said the failure of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to provide good governance is a yardstick for Nigerians to vote for his party’s candidates in the 2019 general elections.

Secondus, who was addressing leaders of the PDP in Asaba,  Delta State capital on Sunday shortly before the commencement of a consultative meeting between the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) and Governors, expressed confidence that Nigerians would speak with one voice through their voters’ cards in favour of PDP in the next general elections.

According to him, “the weakest point in the history of the PDP is that we lost in the 2015 elections.

“But, we should take advantage of the monumental failure of the APC. They came with a government of vengeance. We must emphasise that our people must have voters’ cards because Nigerians want us to come together and rescue the country in 2019.”

“The NWC is here (Asaba) to consult with our Governors and we are presenting our road map to victory to them. On Tuesday, we will consult with members of the National Assembly,” Secondus said.

He disclosed that the PDP would wrestle power from the APC through aggressive awareness campaign for members of the party at the local government and ward levels to have their voters’ cards, assuring that the PDP had been repositioned with strong emphasis on the power of the people, the electorates who would always be given the chance to make their choice in a free, and fair manner without fear.

The PDP helmsman lauded the programmes of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, especially in the areas of job and wealth creation, compulsory health insurance scheme and provision of infrastructure, among others, asserting that “Governor Okowa is a performing Governor. There is no way you will count 1, 2, 3 Governors who are working without counting Okowa. He is brilliant and an achiever. Of a truth, you (Governor Okowa) are doing very well and we will ask our Governors to key into your programmes because they are well thought-out and targeted at the people at the grassroots as the beneficiaries.”

River State Governor Nyesom Wike said the desire of Nigerians was for the PDP to take over power at the centre in 2019, noting that, based on performance, there was no fear about the party losing any of the states it had won governorship elections.

Okowa commended the NWC for choosing the state for its meeting and used the occasion to reel out some of the achievements of his administration in the education.

He also scored his administration high in peace building, job and wealth creation, ensuring the implementation of the compulsory health insurance scheme, among others, disclosing that, based on the love the people of the state have for the PDP, they voted massively for the party in the January 6 local government elections.

Others who spoke at the meeting were the Governors of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, and his Gombe State counterpart, Ibrahim Dankwambo.

“80% Of Buildings In Lekki Have No Approval” – Lagos State Commissioner For Physical Planning & Urban Development Reveals

Published

on

The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, has stated that 80 per cent of buildings in Ibeju Lekki have no approval.

Olumide disclosed this while speaking to newsmen recently.

In his words; “Just last week Thursday and Friday, myself and the team were in the Ibeju Lekki and Epe axis and you would agree with me that anybody passing through that corridor would see a lot of estates marked. We went there, and I can tell you that from what we saw, over 80 per cent of them do not have approval.

The procedure to get approval is first to get the planning information, as to what those areas have been zoned for. In this case, what we have is agricultural land, and people now go to their families to buy agricultural land. Of course, those lands would be sold because those families do not know the use such land would be put to.

The next thing to do is the fence permit. If you missed the earlier information on not knowing the area zoning, at the point of getting the fence permit, you would be able to detect what the area is zoned for. After that, the layout permits a large expense of land follows.”’

Olumide noted that a layout permit cannot be obtained if it is not zoned for the purpose it was designed for or for the purpose it was being requested.

“So, you can see all these layers, but people still go ahead to start advertising. Some have even gone to the extent of displaying the sizes they want to sell. Imagine someone in the diaspora who wants to send money without any knowledge. Then, no approval is eventually gotten. Even if they pass the assignment and the survey to them, we would not grant the individual permit, because that area is not zoned for that purpose’’ Olumide said

This partly explains why some of the houses are being turn down currently in the state.
