BREAKING NEWS: Truck Crushes Soldier to Death in Lagos

A Nigerian soldier (name identified) on Wednesday evening lost his when he was hit by a truck.

The sad incident occurred at Okota road, Lagos when a truck carrying 40-feet container lost control wheel descending the bridge connecting Itire-Okota road en route Ago Palace way.

Eyewitnesses told GrassRoots.ng correspondent that the soldier supposedly defied the truck driver’s warming as the truck lost control.

The eyewitness who was a passer-by identified himself as Mr. Kunle Adebabyo, said “In fact, it happened like a flash. The truck actually lost control the driver was shouting ‘give way, give way. Break failure’. The Soldier, probably his motorbike broke down, he was trying to start it but to no avail.

“I believe if he had heeded the driver’s message this wouldn’t have occurred. By the the truck was close he tried to move but it was late. So the truck crushed him”.

Another passers-by- Ms. Nkiru Eze, was visibly crying while narrating how the Soldier was knocked down and died in the spot.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the officers and men of the Nigerian Police from Ago Police Division were seen arguing with some soldiers who arrived the place to tow the truck to their barracks.

Efforts to reach the police spokesman in Lagos could not yield result as at the time of filling this report.
