Again: Buhari off to London

President Muhammadu Buhari is returning to London once again, “to rest” in what appears to have become an annual ritual, just about eight months after returning from a lengthy medical sojourn in the once Nigerian colonial headquarters.

The President, according to reports by ThInterview, quoting presidential sources, would leave Nigeria for the UK capital where he spent about four months at a stretch, last year, taking care of of his health, on Monday, April 9, to commence his annual leave.

The report indicated that the President would leave early to enable him rest before participating in the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, also known as CHOGM 2018, to be held at the Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace, and Windsor Castle.

Nigeria, one of countries that make up the Commonwealth, a diverse community of 53 nations that work together to promote prosperity, democracy and peace, is attending the meeting scheduled for April 16 to 20.

Buhari had first taken some two months off during a similar leave, last year, to treat an ailing ear, before returning for a much lengthier period of 154 days between May 7 and August 19, 2017 to treat, this time, a yet to be disclosed sickness.
