The Supreme Court has declined to unseat Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.

The apex court ruled that all the issues brought before it against the governor were resolved.

A five-man panel of judges said there was no point re-litigating on issue bordering on the primary election that produced Ugwuanyi.

The Supreme Court has dismissed a suit seeking to unseat the governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The court verdict by a five-man panel of judges ruled that all the issues brought before it against the governor were resolved.

It also upheld the judgement of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal which earlier affirmed Ugwuanyi’s election victory.

The judges led by Justice Kayode Ariwola also berated Senator Ayogu Eze, the appellant, for raising issues it said was previously decided.

The court said there was no point re-litigating on issue bordering on the primary election that produced Ugwuanyi. Justice Ariwola said: “There is no substance in this appeal and it is accordingly dismissed”. The court also awarded a fine of N1 million as cost against the appellant, in favour of Ugwuanyi who was cited as the 4th respondent.

Eze had in his appeal with suit no: SC/248/2017, prayed the apex court to sack Ugwuanyi from office on the premise that he was not validly nominated by the PDP for the gubernatorial election.

He informed the court that Ugwuanyi emerged from a kangaroo primary election he said was conducted on December 8, 2014, by some leaders of the party.
