Touching story of how Student slumps, dies during sports competition in Anambra

In less than two weeks, two students have slumped and collapsed during sporting activities in Anambra State.

Just on Monday, a student of Anambra State University (now, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University), a student identified as Ichaka slumped and died in the pitch during a Football and Volleyball Competition against Unizik Medical Student.

According to eyewitness account, Ichaka was one of ANSU’s fastest runners and also played for the school.

“He scored the first goal for us in 2nd half; everyone one was jubilating.

“He was full of life and hope…. Before he entered the pitch he gave me his house keys and phones to hold for him.

“Your Sister and Ginika baby kept calling you on phone when you were playing. I never knew that would be the last.“50minutes into first half, before my very eyes Ichaka slumped down around 6pm.

“Like play ooo; we tried resuscitating him, no way. No Hospital was open at Uli, So, we carried him to Ihiala Hospital where he was confirmed dead. Cardiac Arrest!!!!! “I had to touch him on bed to believe. His body was already stiff, warm and legs cold”, narrated the deceased friend identified as Lillian.
