BBNaija gist: What happened at Lagos audition

Several aspirants at the ongoing audition for the fourth season of the TV reality show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), holding at the Lagos centre on Friday expressed mixed feelings on whether they would scale the hurdle or not.

Some said that because of the mammoth crowd, they might not make it while others were very optimistic of getting the ticket into the BBNaija House at the end of the day.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a large number of people had turned out for the audition taking place at D’Podium International Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos State.

NAN correspondents who were at the event centre, observed that the security personnel there were having a hectic time in controlling the crowd.

Some were trying to jump the queue and scaled the fence in order to gain access to the venue.
Some of the aspirants told NAN that they arrived the audition centre as early as 2a.m., on Friday.

Mr. Desmond Okafor, 26, expressed confidence in getting into the Big Brother Nigeria house at the end of the day.

“I have been here since 3a.m., and I still met so many people that arrived before me but that is not going to discourage me at all.

“I’m certain that I will make it through into the house because I have what it takes and I’m pretty sure my efforts will not go in vain.

“The mammoth crowd will not hit my confidence because the avenue is my one way ticket to stardom,” he said.

Miss Elizabeth Nwigbe, a student revealed that she travelled from Ado Ekiti to attend the audition.

“I left Ado Ekiti yesterday and I came straight to the venue so I have been here since 11p.m., yesterday.

“My parents don’t even know that I’m here for the audition but this a certain risk that I must take to achieve a particular course in my life.

“To be honest, seeing the population of people that turned up for this screening can be quite discouraging because everyone wants the same thing.

“But I’m hopeful that I will be picked,” she said.
Mr. Wole Smith, who had passed through the stages of the audition, revealed that he lost out during the previous audition.

“My experience from the previous edition prepared me well for this one so I successfully scaled through the two stages.

“I’m not supposed to reveal the questions that were asked but I’m glad I made it through the stage.

“I’m certain that I will be picked for the main show as I am going to succeed,” he said.

However, some participants lamented about the venue noting that a bigger venue should have been used.

Miss Lola Adeola noted that the venue could not accommodate the crowd that turned up for the audition.

“The centre is a big one but the organisers should have known better that the crowd in Lagos will be too big for this venue.

“Everywhere is so jam packed and the weather is not helping matters as it is hot. May God bless our hustle,” she lamented.

Another one who simply identified himself as Lawrence, noted that some miscreants had taken advantage of the rowdy situation.

“Some people have complained that their phones and other belongings had gone missing due to the rowdiness of the place,” he said.

In a heartfelt note, E-Money mourned the loss of the Nollywood star and pledged to take care of Junior Pope’s three sons, making them part of his family. This gesture of generosity and support has touched many hearts, raising questions about the importance of friendship and community support in times of grief.

In his post, He wrote;

“We tenderly remember your final words on the boat, “NA ONLY ME DEM BORN I GET 3 CHILDREN NA ME GO RAISE THEM,” and we solemnly commit to honoring that vow. Your children now find solace in the embrace of the Okonkwo family, and we, as members of that family, pledge to nurture them as you would have wished. Your absence leaves a palpable void, JP, and your memory will forever be held dear. Rest peacefully, knowing that you are deeply cherished, and may God’s blessings encompass your soul, your family, and all who hold you in their hearts. ” – E-Money

Legendary Nollywood director and producer Tchidi Tchikere has penned down an emotional message for late Junior pope

He wrote;

“My boy. My son . Adieu. I feel like a man who has lost a son. You came to dance in my music video. I paid you and you said ‘Thank you sir’ I was touched by your gratefulness and I asked my production manager to call you back. I took your number and told you I d push your career cos out of all the people I paid that day you were the only one who said THANK YOU. So one month later and after auditions , I cast in a leading role in the movie DEEPER THAN FACES. I surrounded you with established actors like Tonto Dikeh. Uche Elendu and the legend Uncle Pete Edochie. Cos I knew casting you among them would make you fly. And fly you did. I carried your career AMAKA MUSTAPHA. BE NOT AFRAID. NEW JOY etcetera, and you kept flying.

“Others began to cast you and I was happy watching you grow. Casting you as Churchill son of legendary actor Kanayo O Kanayo in GLOBACOM’s sitcom Professor Johnbull was one of the best decisions of my career because again you showed your versatility.

“I don’t know how this happened, it s only God that knows, JP, for me you are not dead, you have only gone to another level. That is the only way I can cope with this terrible news. We will keep holding the flag until we meet again”.

Junior Pope and four other crew members died during a boat accident on their way to a movie location on the 10th of April 2024. His death is still a huge shock.
