Election results: Akume, APC youths storm Makurdi, destroy billboards, posters belonging to Gov. Ortom, PDP candidates

Senator George Akume, has reportedly led APC youths in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, to destroy campaign billboards and posters of Governor Samuel Ortom and other Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidates in the State.
George Akume, former Governor of Benue State, lost his bid to return to the Senate during the National Assembly election on Saturday.
Akume lost the seat to Orker Jev of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the senatorial election in Benue Zone B.
Terve Akase, the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Samuel Ortom, revealed this to the media on Wednesday.


Sharing pictures, Akase said that the angry lawmaker has taken to the streets destroying billboards and posters of Ortom and other members of PDP.
Announcing the result on Wednesday, the Returning Officer for the election, Prof Nicodemus Ochani, said Akume of the APC polled 115,422, while Jev of PDP got 157,726 votes to win the contest.
