Fake News: CBN Governor Emefiele not sacked

The news which made the rounds on Monday that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has been relieved of his duties if fake.

The Director of Corporate Communications of the Apex bank, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, dismissed the rumour while speaking with News Express on Monday evening.

“Don’t believe it. It’s a lie,” he said.

The fake report had claimed that Emefiele was directed to hand over to an unnamed successor within two weeks.
