INEC declares Umahi winner of Ebonyi Governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Dave Umahi, as the winner of the 2019 governorship election in the state.
Umahi, who was elected for the second term won in all the thirteen local government areas of the state.
Declaring the results in Abakaliki, the State Collation Officer/Returning Officer, Prof. Frank Chukwuemeka-Eze, said that the PDP governorship candidate scored a total of 393,043 votes to defeat his challenger, Sonni Ogbuoji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 81,703 votes.
The Returning Officer, who is the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), announced that Umahi scored the highest number of votes and therefore declared the winner of the 2019 Governorship election in Ebonyi State.
However, the victory has threw up celebrations in the state capital as the winner and his supporters converged at the governor’s Christ Embassy church for brief prayers in the state.
