LASG Renovates Meteorological Gardens In Public Schools


As part of its efforts to promote the development of Science and Technology, the Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology has renovated six existing geographical/meteorological gardens in six public schools in each of the educational districts.
The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Hakeem Fahm disclosed that each of the gardens has been equipped with various weather data measuring instruments, two Laptop Computers, Enterprise Metrological Software and a building to serve as the weather station.
According to the Commissioner, this is one of the intervention projects embarked upon by the Ministry in view of the present administration’s commitment to enhancing the practical teaching of science subjects such as Geography, Biology, Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics in public schools across Lagos.
Fahm informed that the renovated geographical/meteorological gardens are located within the premises of Bolade School Complex, Oshodi; Abesan High School Complex, Alimosho; Wahab Folawiyo Secondary School, Osborne Road, Ikoyi; Mainland Senior High School, Fadeyi; Maryland School Complex, Maryland; and Agboju Senior Secondary School, Agboju.
“The Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration will continue to support science and create enabling environment, through policies and initiatives in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of the State Government and the need to equip students with the knowledge and skill for the 21st-century economy”, Fahm said.
