Kano Sharia Court Orders Man To Be Stoned To Death For Rape


A Shariah Court in Kano has sentenced a 60-year-old man, Mati Abdu, to death by stoning for raping a 12 year old girl.
Recall that a similar court had ordered the death of a 22 year old singer for blasphemy in the state two days ago.
Nonetheless, Abdu, who defiled the minor hails from Farsa village in Tsanyawa Local Government area of Kano State.
It was alleged that the man in 2019 had raped the 12-year-old girl under a tree in a broad daylight at Farsa village.
The presiding judge of the Shariah court sitting in Kofar Kudu, near the Emir’s palace, Khadi Ibrahim Sarki-Yola, gave the judgment after finding Abdu guilty of the offence.
Yola sentenced Abdu based on Section 127 sub section (b) of the Kano State Shariah Penal Code Law 2000.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Barrister Badariya Bala-Shehu said the convict committed the offence around 1pm.
