A timely intervention of firemen in Enugu State helped to quench ravaging fire that could have engulfed lives and property at Amaechi Bus stop, a Suburban area in Enugu State.

The fire incident occurred at about 1:40pm today, 26th January 2021, an eyewitness told Grassroots.ng

The eyewitness who gave her name as Ogechi Obuna narrated her ordeal to Grassroots.ng; she said a nearby farm was cleared, probably in preparation for backyard farming, and fire was set to burn the small bush gathered, but harmattan escalated the flames.

Ogechi is a final year student of Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

In her words, “I usually ply this route to my house.

“So, I met the incidence and quickly intervened by calling Enugu state Emergency Fire Service to come to their rescue”.

When asked if there were casualties or damage of buildings, Ogechi said there was none because the officers of the State Fire Service came to rescue the area.

“So, the damage wasn’t much just the roof top of buildings around the farm was burnt. Nobody died” she added.

With Ogechi’s timely call a lot of property and lives were saved today!
