Lawmaker In Kaduna Killed By Gunmen

A lawmaker at the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honourable Rilwanu Gadagau, has been killed by gunmen on the Kaduna-Zaria highway.
Gadagau, who represented Giwa Constituency of the state, was the chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Rural Development in the Assembly.
He was reported to have been killed on Monday night by bandits who attacked travellers on the Kaduna-Zaria road. The body of the lawmaker was later discovered on Wednesday morning.
The lawmaker’s body was said to have been found near Mawai, a village just about 13 kilometres from the Kaduna State capital.
Confirming the incident, the Speaker of the Assembly, Honourable Yusuf Zailani, described the death of the lawmaker as devastating.
In a statement signed by his media aide on Wednesday, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, the Speaker said he was informed that the body of the lawmaker was discovered in a morgue on Wednesday, suspected to have been one of those killed by bandits on Monday night on the Kaduna-Zaria highway.
“This is tragic and painful. We are in deep grief over this sad incident,” the Speaker said.
The Speaker also commiserated with families of others who were killed during the same attack.
