FG Deploys 1,250 Agric Workers To Abuja, 24 States

1,250 agricultural extension personnel has been recruited and deployed to 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Federal Government said.
The spokesman of the National Directorate of Employment, Edmund Onwuliri, in a statement last night, said this was to enhance food security and address the challenge of rural-to-urban migration.
He said the training was expected to generate employment for the extension workers, increase food production, stimulate the rural economy and remove drudgery associated with traditional agricultural practices.
Onwuliri listed the benefitting states as: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Borno, Bayelsa, Benue, Bauchi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Ondo, Osun, Gombe Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Lagos, Nasarawa, Plateau, Rivers, Yobe, Zamfara and Kebbi.
“Trainees will equally be exposed to new knowledge in the deployment and use of improved varieties of seeds and seedlings as well as the knowledge of current government policies and initiatives aimed at incentivizing agricultural production.”
