Actor Desmond Elliot is under fire as Youths show support to Young Actor Olumide Oworu for political race of House of Assembly, Surulere constituency 1

Desmond Elliot is up to run for his third term in office But his junior colleague, Olumide Oworu, might just be kicking him out as the people of Surulere are neither happy nor impressed with what Desmond has been bringing to the table.
Recall, During the End Sars protest where youths were shot at and some killed, Desmond Elliot Praised the situation and referred to Nigerian youths as “Childish” perse. That was a horrible time in history for the Nigerian Youths. And his statements hasn’t been forgotten.

Meanwhile, The young actor (Olumide Oworu) has garnered massive support online since he announced his intention to represent the Surelere 1 constituency under Labour Party.

Mc Lively and Lepacious Bose among others have boldly declared support for the young actor over Elliot.

Supreme Court Dismisses PDP’s Suit Against Tinubu And Shettima over “double nomination”

The Peoples Democratic Party’s lawsuit seeking the disqualification of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on grounds of double nomination, has been dismissed by Supreme Court.

The PDP had claimed that Shettima’s nomination as Tinubu’s running mate was in breach of the provisions of sections 29(1), 33, 35, and 84(1)(2) of the Electoral Act, 2022, adding that he contravened the electoral act by contesting for the position of vice-president and Borno central senatorial seat at the same time.

However ruling on the case on Friday, May 26, A five-member panel of the supreme court held on Friday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacked the locus standi to institute the suit.

The apex court held that the opposition party is not a member of the ruling party.

PEP Court Overrules Tinubu And APC; Consolidates Atiku And Peter Obi’s Petitions

Still on the ongoing Presidential Election case in Court, Here is the recent happening.

Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, sitting in Abuja, today May 23, consolidated the three different petitions that are seeking to upturn the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the APC as the winner of the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

A five-member panel of the court led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, in a unanimous decision, dismissed objections the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, raised against the merger of the petitions. The court held that Justice of the cases demanded that they should be consolidated and dealt with as one petition since they all relate to the same election. The court then scheduled May 30 for the candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, to open his case against the outcome of the presidential election held on February 25.

Obi initially told the tribunal that he would need seven weeks to present his case through 50 witnesses. Ruling on his application, the court reduced the period to three weeks, even as it gave the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Tinubu and the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, five days each to defend the petition. In the same vein, the court gave the 4th respondent in the case, Kabiru Masari, three days to also defend himself.

Peter Obi In Court As Presidential Tribunal Hearing Continues

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, Came to court today for a hearing at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The spokesperson of Obi’s campaign team, Kenneth Okonkwo, shared a photo of Obi in court via his Twitter page.

Okonkwo tweeted, “We are back again in the Court of Appeal today, 17th May 2023, for the continuation of hearing in our petition to dethrone the old order and usher in a new Nigeria. #PeterObi is in court.

“Some hired political clowns and impostors masquerading as Labour Party chieftains wanted to disrupt proceedings in court but were disgraced. Victory is ours by the grace of God.”

It was reported that there was a disagreement between two factions of the party before the court resumed proceedings.

We are hoping to hear the outcome of the court sitting today.
