BREAKING: Manchester United Sack Ruben Amorim
ORJI ISRAEL reports that Darren Fletcher, the former United midfielder and current under-18s coach, has been appointed as interim manager

English Premier League giant Manchester United has sacked head coach Ruben Amorim, ending his 14-month tenure at Old Trafford with immediate effect.
The decision follows a 1-1 draw against Leeds United on Sunday and comes amid a challenging run of form, with United winning only one of their last five matches and currently sitting sixth in the Premier League, 17 points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
The club released a statement confirming Amorim’s departure, stating that the leadership had made the “reluctant” decision in the interest of giving United the best possible chance of finishing the season strongly.
Amorin’s spell in charge began in November 2024 when he was brought in from Sporting Lisbon. Despite guiding United to the UEFA Europa League final in 2025, his league record included inconsistent results and tactical disagreements with the club’s hierarchy.
The Portuguese coach’s relationship with senior management reportedly deteriorated in recent weeks, spotlighted by an explosive post-match media conference in which he openly challenged the club’s leadership structure.
Darren Fletcher, the former United midfielder and current under-18s coach, has been appointed as interim manager while the club begins its search for a permanent successor.
The Red Devils now turn their attention to upcoming fixtures with fresh leadership in hopes of energising their campaign as the Premier League season progresses.
