Minister Set to Inaugurate National Egg Production Scheme


The Minster of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbe, has disclosed plans to launch a national egg production scheme (NEPS).
Briefing the press in Abuja recently, the Minster thanked the members of the committee made up Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation, Bank of Agriculture, National School Feeding Program Office, Poultry Association of Nigeria and TUNS Farms for their support and charged them to ensure the successful flag-off of the scheme in the 6 pilot phase of Ondo, Kebbi, Kogi, Abia, Bauchi and Cross River.
He remarked that this scheme would create over 1 million jobs and would conserve forex for the country by saving money from importation of egg powder.
He also charged the Central Bank to look at way of reducing the interest rate to lower than 5%.
The inaugural flag off would be done by the Hon Minister and hosted by the Governor of Ondo state on the 12th of January, 2018.
