A middle-aged man identified as Chikodili was in the wee hours of Friday kidnapped from his residence at No 65 Nwokedi Okpoko Street, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Information has it that the abductors, numbering three, had stormed the area and whisked the victim away.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said the wife had pleaded with the abductors to release her husband, even offering her widow’s mite of N9,000.

According to him, the suspects had accepted the offer but took off with her husband when she went to get the money.

According to News Express report, the victim was taken to a nearby bush but was rescued by the community’s vigilante, which also apprehended the kidnappers.

Confirming the incident, the leader of the vigilante group in the area, Mr. Okpala Victor, said the arrest of the suspects was made possible following a tip-off.

He said: “The vigilante group stormed the bush, freed the victim and arrested the trio suspects who are now at the Police Station.

“The police have assured us they would be charged to court immediately.”

President General of the community, Edwin Emesinwa, hailed the vigilante for doing their job well.

While describing the security outfit as the best in the state, he noted that the community has had relative peace since one year ago as result of the good works of the community’s vigilante group.
