After its conclusion, Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner after securing 247,752 votes, while Idris Wada, the incumbent Governor and PDP candidate, polled 204,877 votes.

In 2015, governorship election in Bayelsa State was held on December 5, but it was also declared inconclusive.
