Mourinho explains why Alexis Sanchez flopped at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho believes Alexis Sanchez’s inherrant sadness meant he was always destined to fail at Manchester United.
Much was expected of the Chile international after he arrived at Old Tafford following his acrimonious departure from Arsenal but he failed to produce anywhere near his best form.
Both Mourinho and his successor, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, failed to illicit the sort of performances which marked Sanchez out as one of the Premier League’s most feared attackers.
The 30-year-old joined Inter on loan earlier this month and this week claimed that too much chopping and changing was the main reason behind a return of just three goals in 32 Premier League appearances.
Mourinho, however, had a different take, telling the Daily Telegraph: ‘Sanchez… I felt him [to be] not a happy man.
And I think in every job you have when you are not happy it is not so easy to perform at every level.
‘And maybe I am wrong. Maybe it was me who was not capable to get into him and to get the best out of him.
‘As a manager sometimes you have the capacity to get the best out of the players and other times you are not successful in that approach.
‘But the reality is that I always felt [of Sanchez], ‘a sad man’. So probably in Italy he will recover this. I hope he can. I always wish well to every player.’
