Lawmakers In Lagos Pass Bill To Jail Stay-At-Home Violators For 1 Month

Lagos is one obviously the leading state when it comes to the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
With the compliance level from residents not encouraging the lawmakers in the state passed a bill that would ensure anyone found guilty of violating government’s stay-at-home or close down order is jailed for one month.
The bill also stated that the jail term could only be substituted with 100,000 naira fine or 3 months community service.
This was made known on Thursday the Lagos State House of Assembly’s Twitter handle.
“Where there is a violation of a close down or stay at home order, security Agencies shall have power to arrest without warrant and may detain any person who violates the close down or stay at home order for at least forty-eight (48) hours,” the bill added.
