North Has 70 Percent New Cases Of Covid-19- Governors


The Northern Governors’ Forum says 54 per cent of the COVID-19 cases and 70 per cent of new infections in the country happened in its region.
This was disclosed by the NGF Chairman and Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, in a Press statement as part of the highlights of the Forum’s teleconference.
The governors had reviewed the issues of security, coronavirus and others affecting the region.
While commending the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) over his regime’s sustained efforts in tackling insecurity in the area, the governors appealed for further attention in containing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the North.
“The Forum resolved to continue its appeal to the Federal Government for support to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, as the Northern Region now has about 54 per cent of the national cases and 70 percent of new infections,” the statement noted.
